Lagos Fashion Week 2025: A Runway Riot of Style, Stars & Sustainability

American popstar Ciara was recently caught on the red carpet giving supermodel Naomi Campbel all the really delicious tea from her Lagos fashion week experiences and this was great to watch.

The Lagos Fashion Week 2025 just went down from October 29 to November 2 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. It was the 15th edition and was tagged “In Full Bloom”. A really befitting title as Lagos lit up with swagger, colour, and purpose.

It was lights, dresses, music, and that unmistakable Lagos swagger. No wonder Ciara was smithened.

The fashion week featured a list of events like — Fashion Business Series (panels & talks on fashion-industry/business topics), Fashion Lab × Evolve talk, The Design Table Brunch, SwapShop Lagos 2025 (sustainability / thrifting event), NGX Closing Gong Ceremony (NGX Group, Lagos State Governor & Ciara) plus other private events. First let’s talk about the runway shows

Runways that Roared

Over 60 delectable designers flooded the schedule. — Orange Culture, Iamisigo, Kilentar, Onalaja and more. Their collections walked down a catwalk, told stories, made statements and electrified the atmosphere. They merged tradition and new rhythms. You saw craftsmanship in every stitch, bold prints in every silhouette, and silhouettes that hinted at something bigger than fashion.

Streetwear held its own too. Side events like Street Souk pushed bold labels like Go Crazy, Pieces, JBL into the light. It was beyond, beyond as it breathes in sneakers, local flair, and unexpected design energy.

Ciara walked the Lagos Fashion Week 2025 Runway

Then came that moment. Ciara showed up,  invited by Lagos State Government and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture. This electrified the room. She closed the Fruché runway show in a red gown that stole hearts.

She also made stops at the iconic J Randle Centre For Yoruba Culture & History, Lagos Island and The Nike Arts Gallery In Lagos.

Later she stood beside Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the NGX Closing Gong ceremony. The bell rang. The city applauded. Fashion met finance in that moment. Lagos made it official.

Ciara also popped up at exclusive dinners, media walk-abouts and backstage hangouts. Her presence was a nice and strategic addition beyond just glam. It carried weight. Global eyes focused on Lagos fashion for a moment that felt big.

Gaise Baba surprise performance at Lagos Fashion Week 2025

One of the biggest surprises was the “No Turning Back” by gospel artist Gaise Baba. This was definitely a gospel-meets-groove and unexpected moment by Gaise Baba.

The moment he took the mic, people sang along, Models paused, Cameras panned. It felt spiritual and fierce.

Another stand out performance was the one by The Loud Choir who performed an Afrobeats medley of songs like Ojuelegba, Mad over you, Joy is coming, Funds by Davido etc

The group strutted down the runway with their angelic voices and really glamorous outfits and the audience loved it!

Business, Sustainability & Style at Lagos Fashion Week 2025

Lagos Fashion Week 2025 also asked the question: Can it last?

Green Access leaned in harder than ever. Designers who care about the planet, local crafts, and circular fashion found space to show what they can do. Retail hubs like Nahous and Temple Muse displayed pretty pieces and people bought them. They spoke with the makers. They touched fabric that meant something.

The panel talks at the Fashion Business Series shook the room. Creatives leaned forward. Investors leaned in. Pop-up shops turned into real conversations about building a fashion brand that sells, lasts, and gives back. This was a reminder that style and substance can go hand-in-hand.

And then came the win. Days after the runways closed, Lagos Fashion Week took home the 2025 Earthshot Prize in the “Build a Waste-Free World” category.

That prize was beyond a great applause towards Lagos leading the conversation on sustainability, and impact. As much as there was sparkle on the catwalk, there was weight behind it.

Lagos Stage Government Rang The NGX Closing Gong

The NGX Closing Gong ceremony sealed that shift. With Governor Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism and NGX leadership standing behind it, fashion stopped being just lifestyle. It became investment. It became policy. It became Lagos saying: We back you.

More than parties, more than models, more than flashbulbs — LFW 2025 showed Lagos as a main character. A stage. A curator. A sponsor. A home base for fashion that seeks global respect.

What It All Felt Like

Walking out of the Federal Palace lobby on the last day, designers hugged. Influencers posed in custom pieces. Buyers counted stock. Stylists filed into cars with carefully wrapped couture. The air smelled of fresh linen, new beginnings.

Lagos Fashion Week 2025 was full of hope, ambition and style. The dresses dazzled. The conversations deepened. The future felt a little more ours.

If this is what fifteen years looks like, Lagos is just getting started.
