Tamuno Soye’s Biography

Nigeria’s journey at the 73rd Miss World competition in Vietnam started on an exciting note, and Tamunosoye Karibi-George, popularly known as Soye George or Queen Soye, quickly became one of the reasons many Nigerians paid close attention to the competition.

Representing Nigeria among contestants from around the world, Soye began standing out through her confident runway appearances, strong performances in different challenges and her ability to use one of the world’s biggest pageant stages to tell stories about Nigeria.

The excitement grew when she won Miss World Africa Top Model 2026, beating contestants from Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya and South Africa. The victory automatically secured her place among the competition’s Top 40 and gave Nigerians another reason to believe that their representative could go far in the competition.

Soye’s journey continued to attract attention as she represented Nigeria in the Head-to-Head Challenge, showcased her talent and took her advocacy platform, Beyond Labels, to an international audience. She also used her fashion to tell stories about Nigeria and her Niger Delta roots, working with Nigerian creatives who helped transform her major appearances into cultural statements.

By the time the competition reached its final stages, many Nigerians had started imagining the possibility of seeing the Miss World Blue Crown return home.

The journey did not go exactly as expected, however. Soye was not initially selected to continue at one stage of the competition, but a dramatic People’s Choice voting battle later gave her another opportunity. With Nigerians and supporters around the world rallying behind her, she fought her way into the final Top 12 contestants.

She did not eventually win the Blue Crown, but Soye’s Miss World journey gave Nigeria plenty to celebrate and introduced a larger international audience to the young woman behind the Miss World Nigeria crown.

Tamuno Soye’s Miss World Journey

Soye arrived in Vietnam as Miss World Nigeria 2026, carrying the responsibility of representing Nigeria on one of the biggest stages in global pageantry.

Her journey gained major momentum during the Top Model competition, where she emerged as Miss World Africa Top Model 2026. The victory was one of Nigeria’s biggest achievements during the competition and automatically secured her place among the Top 40 contestants.

Her runway performances became one of the strongest parts of her campaign. Soye carried herself with confidence and elegance, and her controlled, deliberate catwalk helped her command attention on stage.

She also represented Nigeria during the Head-to-Head Challenge, where contestants had the opportunity to speak about their personal journeys, their countries and the social causes they represented. Soye’s performance earned her recognition among the African finalists.

As the competition progressed, Nigerians became increasingly optimistic about her chances. Perhaps that is why so many Nigerians believed she could win; Soye was winning challenges, had a strong stage presence, had a clear advocacy message and carried Nigeria visibly wherever she went.

The competition later took an unexpected turn when she was not initially selected to continue at one stage of the finale. However, the People’s Choice vote created another opportunity, and Soye found herself in a closely watched voting battle with Miss Eritrea.

Nigerians and supporters around the world rallied behind her, and their votes helped push her back into the competition.

Soye eventually secured a place among the final Top 12 contestants, making her journey one of the most dramatic parts of Nigeria’s campaign at Miss World 2026.

Tamuno Soye’s Miss World Answer and Beyond Labels Advocacy

Reaching the Top 12 gave Soye another opportunity to speak directly to the judges and the global audience.

She was asked about the people who voted her back into the competition and what she believed they saw in her. Soye used her answer to speak about authenticity, resilience, determination and purpose while thanking the people who supported her journey.

Her answer also connected naturally with Beyond Labels, the advocacy platform that has become an important part of her public identity.

Beyond Labels focuses on inclusion and empowerment, particularly for children and people with special needs and neurodivergent individuals. The initiative encourages society to look beyond the labels placed on people and recognise their abilities, individuality, dignity and potential.

Soye took this message to the Miss World stage and used the Head-to-Head Challenge to speak further about the importance of inclusion and creating opportunities for people who are often overlooked.

For her, the Miss World crown was not only about the title. The platform gave her an opportunity to take a message she had already started building in Nigeria to a global audience.

This also fitted naturally into Miss World’s long-standing Beauty With a Purpose tradition, which places social impact at the centre of the competition.

Tamuno Soye’s Fashion and How She Took Nigeria and the Niger Delta to the World

Tamuno Soye’s Biography

Fashion became one of the most memorable parts of Soye’s Miss World journey because she used her major appearances to tell stories about Nigeria, her roots and the Niger Delta.

Her wardrobe did more than make her stand out on stage. Many of the looks carried deliberate cultural and environmental symbolism, while Nigerian designers and creatives played an important role in bringing those ideas to life.

One of her most memorable cultural looks was called “Amazon of the Mangrove.” The costume was conceptualised by Nigerian design house Zhalima Grazioni and drew inspiration from the environment, culture and identity of the Niger Delta.

The design incorporated elements inspired by mangrove roots, shells, foliage and coral beadwork, creating a look that connected Soye’s international appearance to the region she represented.

The Niger Delta is often discussed internationally because of oil and natural resources, but Soye’s appearance presented another side of the region by drawing attention to its culture, environment, waterways and natural beauty.

Her final appearance also carried Nigeria’s national colours. Soye wore a green and white look inspired by the Nigerian flag, describing it as a way of wearing home on the international stage.

The symbolism became one of the strongest features of her Miss World campaign. Even while competing thousands of kilometres away from Nigeria, she used fashion to keep her country and her region at the centre of the story.

The designers and creatives behind these looks also deserve recognition. Their work helped carry Nigerian fashion, creativity and cultural storytelling onto an international stage, while Soye provided the confidence and visibility needed to bring those designs to life.

Together, they ensured that Nigeria was not only represented by a contestant but also by the creativity, culture and talent behind her campaign.

Tamuno Soye’s Life Before Miss World

Before representing Nigeria at Miss World, Soye had already started building a life around communication, public representation and advocacy.

Tamunosoye Karibi-George was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and has connections to both Rivers and Bayelsa States. She represented Bayelsa State during the competition that eventually earned her the Miss World Nigeria crown.

Her pageant journey gained national attention after she became Miss Port Harcourt in 2023. The experience introduced her to wider public engagement and gave her opportunities to develop her interest in representation, community involvement and social impact.

Outside pageantry, Soye also developed experience as a communications professional and voice-over artist. These experiences strengthened skills that later became useful as her public profile grew and she began representing larger audiences.

Her advocacy work also developed before Miss World.

Through Beyond Labels, Soye had already started building conversations around inclusion and the need for society to recognise people beyond the conditions or labels attached to them.

Her journey eventually moved from representing Port Harcourt to competing on a national stage, where she represented Bayelsa State and emerged as Miss World Nigeria 2026.

The win gave her the opportunity to represent Nigeria internationally and took her from the Nigerian pageant stage to Vietnam.

Tamuno Soye’s Miss World Achievements and What Comes Next

Although Tamuno Soye did not win the Miss World Blue Crown, her journey at the 73rd edition of the competition remains one of Nigeria’s strongest recent performances on the global pageant stage.

She won Miss World Africa Top Model 2026, which secured her place in the Top 40, reached the African finalist stage of the Head-to-Head Challenge and later fought her way into the final Top 12 through the People’s Choice vote.

She also took her Beyond Labels advocacy to an international audience and used fashion to celebrate Nigeria and the Niger Delta while working with Nigerian designers and creatives.

Her journey brought together many people who wanted to see Nigeria succeed. Nigerians voted, campaigned and followed her progress, while designers and creatives worked behind the scenes to ensure that every major appearance carried a piece of Nigerian identity.

Soye did not return home with the Blue Crown, but she returned from the competition with something equally important for the next stage of her journey: greater visibility, a larger platform and an international audience that now knows her story.

From becoming Miss Port Harcourt in 2023 to representing Nigeria among contestants from around the world, Tamuno Soye’s journey has moved quickly.

Miss World 2026 may not have ended with the crown many Nigerians hoped she would win, but the competition gave her an opportunity to take her name, advocacy, country and culture to the world.

For Soye, that journey is still unfolding.
