
Introduction
Juma Mussa Mkambala, popularly known as Juma Jux or African Boy, is a Tanzanian singer, songwriter, brand influencer, and entrepreneur. He was born on September 1, 1989, in Dar es Salaam to a Muslim family and hails from the Singida region.
Education and Early Career
Juma attended Kaiuki University and later proceeded to Guangdong Pharmaceutical University in China.
His interest in music began at the young age of 16 when he started rapping for his friends in secondary school. In 2008, after signing with the Tanzanian record label A.M Records, he transitioned from rap to recording R&B songs.
In 2019, he released his debut album, The Love Album, which featured 16 tracks and collaborations with several artists including Nigerian artist Singah, Diamond Platnumz, Nyashinski, Vanessa Mdee, G Nako, and Joh Makini.

He was nominated for ‘Best Male East Africa’ at the AFRIMMA Awards in both 2018 and 2019 and performed on Coke Studio Africa in 2019.
In 2023, he made headlines after releasing a second collaboration with Diamond Platnumz titled Enjoy.
As of 2025, Jux became the first Tanzanian singer to perform at the Headies Awards and was also awarded ‘Best East African Artiste of the Year’.

Juma is married to Priscilla Ojo, a Nigerian socialite, influencer, and CEO. Priscilla Ojo is the daughter of Iyabo Ojo who is a nigerian actress , brand ambassador and socialite.The couple tied the knot in April 2025, in a wedding that was widely regarded as a Nigerian royal wedding.
