Rhodes Yoga Festival 3.0 Was a Reset for African Wellness

On Saturday, June 21st, 2025, Rhodes Yoga Festival 3.0 turned JJT Park, Alausa into a sanctuary of sound, breath, culture, and community. It was a full-circle moment, where yoga met talking drums, stillness met rhythm, and strangers became family. Whether you came for the movement, the mindfulness, or just to vibe, one thing was clear: this was not your average wellness event.

It was Lagos. It was loud. It was sacred. It was us.

Organized by Rhodes YogaNg, the festival is a yearly celebration of intentional living that aligns with International Day of Yoga. Behind the scenes, a brilliant committee made the magic happen, led by convener Motolani Erimoroti, a certified wellness educator and girl-child advocate who continues to champion inclusive, African-rooted healing spaces. Alongside her were Babatunde Olusanya as Co-Planner, Morenikeji Ogunlowo as Project Manager, and Motolani Aransiola as Design Director, crafting a seamless experience that felt like a hug and a homecoming.

Movement, Music & Mindfulness—With Soul

This year’s theme was as loud as the drums: wellness belongs to us. The festival was a buffet of breathwork, AfroYoga, meditation, AcroYoga jams, and emotional release sessions, all grounded in African rhythm and ancestral wisdom.

The Sound Bath, led by Aduke, had people lying still under the Lagos sky, some teary-eyed, others smiling with their eyes closed, just taking it all in. The AfroYoga and Zumba sessions had the park bouncing, barefoot joy at its finest. Meanwhile, the Women and Men Circles offered a softer space—no judgment, no pressure, just real conversations and real release.

The Kids Workshop created an inclusive family zone, proving that wellness isn’t just for adults in flowy pants, it’s a lifestyle for every generation.

Lagos Came Correct—And Fashion Said “Oya Namaste”

The Lagos wellness scene? It’s thriving. From certified instructors to first-time yogis, therapists to tech founders, the crowd was diverse, engaged, and glowing. But let’s talk fashion.

The looks? Afrocentric. Fluid. Fabulous. Ankara sports bras, waist beads, goddess braids, boubous paired with yoga pants, Lagos fashionistas understood the assignment. Wellness, but make it fashion. And Lagos-based designers and stylists showed up with intention. It was giving ancient energy meets Pinterest board.

Media crews, content creators, and drone shots captured it all because Rhodes Yoga Festival 3.0 wasn’t just an event, it was a movement. And the movement looked good.

Announcements That Got Everyone Excited

Just before closing, convener Motolani Erimoroti shared two exciting updates that had the crowd buzzing:

  1. Rhodes Yoga Festival will expand to more African cities starting next year.
  2. The Rhodes Yoga Community App is coming—to help keep us all connected beyond just mats and moments.

Her words, “Rhodes Yoga Festival 3.0 was a love letter to our people, to remind us that healing can be joyful, movement can be revolutionary, and community is medicine,” landed with thunderous applause. And truly, every part of the day lived up to that promise.

Final Stretch

From the meditative stillness to the sweaty dance breaks, Rhodes Yoga Festival 3.0 was a masterclass in what African-rooted wellness can look and feel like. It was a reminder that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s cultural, colorful, sometimes chaotic, but it’s always beautiful.

And as people rolled up their mats and hugged their new tribe members goodbye, one thing was certain, this is only the beginning.

See you at Rhodes Yoga Festival 4.0.
