Tacha Attempts a Guinness World Record With Tacha Beauty Festival

It was fun, music, celebrities, regular Lagosians, and hundreds of makeovers — all packed into one unforgettable weekend at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History on Lagos Island. From October 10 to 12, 2025, the usually calm cultural space turned into a lively beauty arena as Anita Natacha Akide, known to millions as Tacha, went after a Guinness World Record for the most makeovers done in 24 hours by one artist.

Tacha’s Guinness World Record attempt also tagged the Tacha Beauty Festival, brought together beauty enthusiasts, influencers, and everyday Lagosians who came to witness history. By the time Tacha picked up her first makeup brush at about on Saturday, the atmosphere was already electric. Afrobeats played through the night, lights glimmered across the Centre’s glass structure, and fans cheered as she began her first few makeovers with confidence and focus.

For 24 hours straight, Tacha worked tirelessly, completing 145 makeovers in total — surpassing the existing world record of 111 and setting 2 records in the process; 64 makeovers in 5hours and 145 makeovers in 24 hours. Her pace was steady, her spirit high. Each model’s look was documented with photos and videos for Guinness verification, as supporters counted down to the 24-hour mark.

The guest list read like a roll call of Nigeria’s favourite personalities. Toke Makinwa, Alex Unusual, Ice Prince, Dabota Lawson, and Soma Anyama were among those spotted cheering her on. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, was also present, showing the state’s interest in initiatives that promote creativity and culture.

The John Randle Centre itself provided the perfect blend of heritage and modern Lagos energy. Designed as a hub for Yoruba culture and history, it became a meeting point for beauty, art, and entertainment. The energy outside the venue was just as lively, with vendors selling snacks, music echoing across the lawns, and fans taking photos under the Lagos night sky.

Online, the excitement never slowed. Hashtags like #TachaBeautyFestival and #TachaGWR trended on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram as Nigerians from across the world followed the attempt in real time. Many celebrated her resilience, calling her a trailblazer for young women chasing ambitious goals.

Tacha’s 24-hour beauty marathon reflected the ambition that has defined her career. From reality TV fame to building a strong personal brand in entrepreneurship and media, she has consistently shown drive and discipline. This record attempt added a new layer to her story — one of persistence, creativity, and confidence.

As of now, Guinness World Records is still reviewing her submission before official confirmation. Regardless of the final outcome, the event has already achieved its purpose — it brought together Lagos’ creative community, inspired many, and reminded the world that Nigerian talent continues to set bold standards.

From Hilda Baci’s Cook-a-thon, to the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice, and Kaffy’s record-breaking dance marathon, Nigerians have shown again and again that resilience, passion, and creativity run deep. As Tacha awaits official confirmation, we wish her well on her way to joining this growing list of Nigerians putting the country on the global map for excellence, endurance, and unshakable spirit.
